Pretty much perfect as a wallpaper - beautifully composed, excellent colours for use as a background and a stunning example of close-up photography too. It's a shame to mess it up with windows and icons!
insightful
immature

Excellent wallpaper! This is a fine example of a perfectly executed macro wallpaper. I really love the glow, sharpness and clarity. I used to have D50 back in 2006 so it brings memories back. Thanks for sharing! Cheers.

In deed an excellent wallpaper and it does seem to glow. But, you seem to have missed the bit in the description where you hollowed out the lotus flower and filled it with white LEDs. ;)

wow that's the shortest borisenko post ever! interestingly he managed to keep the superlatives and hyperboles at an unchanged level. don't take me wrong i just love this kind of unbridled enthusiasm, the sock i'm holding in my hand has nothing to do with it, i'm just a bit chilly.
regarding the photo, it has a certain understand beauty to it. it's subtle, yet pleasant. nice wallpaper.

I'm glad that my photograph appeared on Interface life so quickly, and that you guys think it works well as a background! I was a little nervous that it might not be accepted.
The image available for download is indeed different from the one that was on the loupe, however, I like this one as well. The faded saturation is surprisingly pleasing.
As for the editing, it was done in PS CS2. I only used Preview to compress it, as I often do not like the way CS2 handles that process.
-- Although, what I did probably could have been done completely in Preview. The only editing was a slight change to the curves and a crop to widescreen ratio.
That being said, I am disappointed that the image was changed so much, and will keep in mind that they convert the images to jpeg for my future submissions.

Glad you like it! Enjoy!

what the hell did Igor ever do to you guys? ive seen the last couple submissions, someone has something to say about him and the funny thing is, his post is completely legitimate. he is not saying anything immature or sarcastic, simply voicing his opinion.
Some people need to grow up.
Very nice photo. i love the way the light illuminates the Lotus.
thanks for sharing :)

Lovely image, flawlessly taken. My only qualm would be that the flower is too close to the menu bar. Notice how there is sufficient buffer near the bottom? I would have liked to see a similar amount of space at the top as well.

The thing that bothers me about the Internet is that people hide behind pseudonyms and avatars and, thusly, seem to plow full steam ahead with behavior that you would never see in traditional social situations. There is no shortage of tactlessness online; it is truly a penalty-less environment in which most will say whatever they want under the wonderful protection of complete anonymity. We can say whatever cutting, biting and sarcastic things we want without any fear that we will be known for saying it in the "real" world. The Internet gives us a second identity to be whomever we want, and there are some people who embrace this opportunity as a way in which to bring out the very worst in themselves at the expense of others.
I cannot believe the comments made about Igor lately. The guy is excited about computer wallpapers, for crying out loud, and yet there are some people who are chastising him for his passion. IFL has become this arena for harsh, personal criticism that has no place in the real world, but yet is somehow being more often accepted in this venue.
I don't know what weight this has for the rest of the IFL community, but people are leaving because of it. We lost a pretty darn good artist (TheReal7, for instance) because of the pettiness and the biting comments that have become the norm. That's just plain sad.
We're all here at IFL because we enjoy computer wallpapers, photography and digital art. But instead of being a nice, tight-knit community that shares common interests, it's like we're all competing with one another to stand out as the resident "expert" or something like that. It's a community, not a competition.
I check IFL every single day because I like art, and I like the people who are here. But more and more I feel like I'm in the wrong place.
I'm not suggesting that we all have to be positive about each submission. But wouldn't it be nice if we actually respected each other and shared our common interest with tact?

It's all part of the internet experience. Personally i think it's the lack of direct and personal human interaction, the individualism and the anonymity that deprives us from our norms and values towards each other.
Typically, problems arise when people start treating the internet as if it was the real world and as if the exact same rules of conduct apply. It's usually a sign that their becoming (too) emotionally invested in this.
Personally I would rather see this whole public comment system gone. I think it's more effective if people could leave a comment, only for the submitting artist to read. I also think that rating comments as 'Insightful/immature' is misplaced unnecessary. I think it would be better to rate the artwork.

Deleting my comment over a joke is a little much, no? : |
Oh well... Let me just restate, I like the photo. Flowers aren't normally my thing but this one's pretty neat.

Ironically, I think we can assume that Igor Borisenko is he real name as is Chris Gin and a few other souls. I use my real name because I willing to stand behind what I say and also because I'm a sucker for attention an notoriety.
