Creation Knows No Boundaries

This shot was taken on Iceland, this summer in Landmannalaugar. As we drove our Jeep further and further in to the mainland.... something beautiful uncovered. Looking at this site made me realize man doesn't control as much as they like to think. Creation is truly beautiful!
Nikon D90, AF-S DX NIKKOR 16-85mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR, Gitzo tripod.

The lines and patterns are amazing. And i love the crispness (if thats a word ;)) Its a very artistic scene, just the perfect shot.
It looks a little bit over processed, but it just might be me. Otherwise it looks really good

Wow this is really beautiful. Feels very original also. For me, the lack of defined clouds in the sky goes well with the uncluttered (no trees) landscape. Also, what you say is so true. =)
I'm no pro, and I can't see anything to nitpick about.

Wow, this scene is spectacular. I thought for a second those were roads in the thumbnail, but they certainly aren't! The shadows from the clouds are just about perfect, and this scene is mesmerizing to look at. Makes a very nice wallpaper. Great submission!
The colors seem a tad oversaturated, detracting a bit from the realism of the photo. And it is a tad bit busy as a wallpaper, but I still am gonna keep it up.

These rocks are actually cooled down lava flow. Once there was a huge volcano there, right ?
It is pretty cool. But i'm not sure about the "creation" part.

Must have been breathtaking seeing this vista. I'd love to visit Iceland someday
Your composition lacks quite a bit of focus. I think you simply saw this beautiful landscape and took the "biggest" shot you could of the surroundings, without much attention to how to compose the image. The lines are all over the place and the eye doesn't know where to start actually looking. When you take another landscape shot, try to think more in terms of rule of thirds, and elements that compliment and contrast each other. The lighting is relatively flat and there's not much contrast in the scene. I'd come back around sunrise or sunset to get something nice here. The big black rock looking thing is extremely distracting on the right hand side. This is going back with the composition's lack of focus. Remember, if it doesn't help your image, crop it out or frame it differently.
Next time when you take a landscape shot, find one or two particular elements that you find interesting and really work on capturing what they are. For example, if it's the river's curvature that you're interested in, then get closer and compose an image that really accentuates that, instead of throwing in a bunch of mountains and boring sky into the mix. Like I mentioned before, if certain elements do not add to your subject, or distract the eye from your subject(s), take them out. Simplicity and structure make a strong image. Landscape photography is not simply getting as wide as possible and putting everything in the frame.
Good luck!

The lava melt looks like a whale! Anyone else see it?
Find a more solid focal point, this is gorgeous but a lot to handle visually.

Kzhan11, speak for yourself. I like the "boring" mountains and sky in this image. I see a silky, misty, creamy, interesting landscape. I even like that "distracting" black rock. Sometimes just pointing and shooting an amazing scene does indeed work.
If people start flooding IFL with Landmannalaugar photos, we can get all pedantic and tell them to get in the Ansel emulation line. You might do well to drop the condescension and remember that this is a wallpaper site, not your role-playing classroom.

I love the almost black + white colors in this pic (the saturation is just perfect). Detail is top notch, scenery is beautiful and soothing, and the sky is what really made this photo happen. Cloudy photos always seem to work thatÂ’s why I love them.
I wouldn't change a thing, but I wish you'd upload more views of this place on Interfacelift ^_^
